Cindy currently lives with her family in El Segundo, CA. Her daughter Skylar is a Ticktocker in the class of 2022. Being President of NCL., Beachside and working side by side with an amazing Board was one of the most fulfilling experiences of her life.

Cindy brought a diverse background to her role as President of the Beachside Chapter. She has served in advocacy roles in the areas of school safety and mental health reform.  She received the Valor Award for Victims Rights in Orange County and was named one of the County’s Top 103 for her work.  In addition, Cindy received multiple congressional commendations and formal recognition from Governor Gray Davis for her advocacy work with Assemblywoman Helen Thompson in the passing of “Laura’s Law” for mental health reform.  Currently, she serves as an Executive Board Member with the El Segundo Education Foundation and is a Board Member of Bolster and Bridge: The Foundation.  Cindy is also the Principal of Program Support Services, a consulting firm in the areas of evaluation, research, strategic planning and grant writing and has a, B.A., M.A. in Psychology and an Advanced Certification in Evaluation from Claremont Graduate University.

Karen Garipay, President 2015-2017

Karen is the mother of two young adults; her son, Matthew, and daughter, Olivia. She has been married to her husband, Bruce, for 25 years. As a family, they have lived in Phoenix, Puerto Vallarta and currently reside in El Segundo. After moving to El Segundo, Karen pursued her goal of founding a Chapter of NCL in the areas of El Segundo, Westchester and Playa del Rey. With the help of a great Board of Directors, the Beachside Chapter was Chartered in April of 2017. Karen served as the Founding President of Beachside for two terms during 2015-16 and 2016-17. Karen currently works as a substitute teacher in the El Segundo and Manhattan Beach school districts.  Karen’s daughter, Olivia, was a member of the Class of 2018 and is enjoying her freshman year at UC Santa Cruz.
